Group history

1985 EBL

It all began in 1985. Michel Etchebest founded the company, which started processing composites. It was not long before EBL, which offered trenchless renovating solutions for sewer networks, made its name as the French pipe liner specialist to go to. It formed the template for the industrial group that has continued to develop and expand ever since.

1989 EMECA

In 1989, EMECA was set up and became a major player in precision mechanics and complex profile cutting.

1992 ARMAX

Three years later in 1992, a new arrival – ARMAX – joined them. It became a major metal reinforcements supplier in no time, supplying high quality solutions for reinforcing concrete structures.

1998 Founding of the holding company, ARTZAINAK

A crucial stage in the Group's development was completed in 1998, when its structure and organization were consolidated. In the same year, the market leader for hydraulic steering systems for vessels, LECOMBLE SCHMITT, was acquired, giving the Group a strong foothold in that sector.

1999 ASMA

In 1999, ASMA engineering was established as an engineering design office, offering bespoke engineering solutions for the Group and other industrial sectors.

2008 DRILLSTAR

In 2008, the Group extended its activities by acquiring DRILLSTAR, the downhole equipment specialist.

2010 LAGARDE

In 2010, the Group continued its expansion drive through the acquisition of LAGARDE, an agricultural mowing implement supplier.

2018 EDAMS

In 2018, EDAMS joined the Group. It specializes in PLC-controlled mechanical solutions for hothouses.

2021 GILTZA

In 2021, the Group branched out into access management solutions for local authorities with the creation of GILTZA.

2022 DARCO

In 2022, the Group's business portfolio was further solidified by its acquisition of DARCO, an expert valve manufacturer for the oil and gas industries. The purchase attests to the Group’s buoyancy and industrial ambitions.
